Introducing our inaugural Lake Okeechobee (Florida) Tour for 2026! Our riders have asked us for new adventures, and as Pampered Pedalers, we are excited to deliver a new addition to our growing ride catalog!
If you're looking for a ride surrounded by natural beauty and solitude, you'll discover a paradise in southern Florida. Three days of cycling around the elevated Herbert Hoover Dike encircling Lake Okeechobee, followed by a final day’s ride through sugarcane fields and lush wilderness on the Great Florida Trail. Expect plenty of wind—sometimes at your back, sometimes in your face!
The Herbert Hoover Dike, an impressive engineering feat built in the 1930s, sits perched high above the lake offering spectacular views of the lake and its flora, fauna, and wildlife. Lake Okeechobee is Florida's largest lake and the second-largest freshwater lake completely within the contiguous United States, famously known as the Bass Fishing Capital of the World.
The tour will take place the first week of November (1-6), a spoke tour based out of one hotel in Clewiston for all five nights, keeping things simple and comfortable. Midweek, we’ll enjoy a fun day where you can opt to cycle, golf, fish, or go air boating, all included in the tour price. We’ll also take in an onsite tour of one of the largest sugar factories in the United States, and savor a variety of meals at unique, diverse restaurants throughout the week.
Participants can expect a combination of paved and gravel routes, with only limited sections on roads shared with cars and several bridge crossings. The gravel sections resemble the crushed limestone found on rail trails and provide a stable riding surface. Plan to ride a gravel or hybrid bike with tires of at least 35mm, and don't forget your sun and wind protection. You'll want both out on the dike!

MILES 27
On the first day, cyclists embark on a 27-mile spin from Clewiston, heading west along the dike to Lakeport. After the ride, a shuttle will transport participants back to Clewiston (30 minutes). Those looking for extra miles can choose to do the route as an out-and-back for more miles.
31 Miles
Day 2 features a 31-mile pedal. The journey starts with a shuttle to Canal Point, riders then head southwest and end back at the host hotel in Clewiston. For those looking for extra mileage, there's an option to keep riding along the dike and then return to Clewiston.
It’s a cycle vacation, so let’s have some fun. The ride presents several options for the off day, or you can also opt to ride the last quadrant of the lake loop. You can choose from one of three activities included in your registration fee:
1. An estimated 90 minute air boat ride in the lake.
2. A fishing outing with a local guide, anticipated as a half-day outing.
3. A round of golf at the Belle Glade Municipal Course. Club rental is an option, but if you have your own clubs, please plan to bring them along with your own tees and balls.
Bike 38 Miles
Following the day of fun, participants will be back on the bike for Day 4. This final 38-mile segment of the LOL traverses the northernmost area of the lake and involves both shuttle drop-off and pick-up services. The route passes through the lake’s most densely populated region and includes brief sections where cyclists must ride on roads and cross bridges. Along the way, there are opportunities to stop for lunch.
Bike 32 Miles
The final day involves cycling on a segment of the Florida Trail, running alongside an irrigation dike through expansive sugarcane fields south of Clewiston. This pristine area presents abundant natural beauty. The official route covers 32 miles; however, mileage can be adjusted to accommodate individual preferences. The trail consists entirely of high-quality gravel, offering exceptional conditions for cycling.
